Talley Broadcasting is accepting applications for an Agricultural Reporter position at the Litchfield, Illinois studio location for radio stations WSMI, & WSMI-FM.

Knowledge of agriculture is important.

Tasks include contacting local agricultural news sources to gather news; writing local ag news stories; editing text and audio; recording interviews and actualities; attending and reporting on meetings; broadcasting live from various special events; gathering, writing, editing, and voicing all content for two newscast a day; posting local stories to our websites; and producing a series of interview programs especially during Farmers Appreciation month. Local advertising sales is also a part of the job. Formal education in broadcasting and/or agriculture, broadcast news experience and familiarity with Bond, Macoupin, Madison, Montgomery and surrounding Illinois Counties are preferred. Important skills for success in the position include: accuracy, the ability to work with people in a productive manner including news contacts and co-workers, self-starting, good grammar and news writing skills, word processing skills, interview skills, digital audio editing skills, skill with broadcast “remote” equipment, good organization, time management skills, the ability to complete news tasks by a deadline, and an authoritative on air delivery. Our facilities include a well equipped control room and a workstation for the agricultural reporter that is equipped with Wireready, a Dixon Newsmixer, Fostex RM-1 Monitor, Adobe Audition, Telos HX1 telephone hybrid, and microphone.

Talley Broadcasting is accepting applications for a News Anchor / Reporter position at the Litchfield, Illinois studio location for radio stations WSMI, WSMI-FM & WAOX.

Would you like to be a News Anchor /Reporter at a small market three station radio group with a local focus serving the station's local communities? This might be the news job for you. WSMI has been owned and operated by the same local family for almost 65 years. WSMI's call letters were chosen to stand for We Serve Mid-Illinois. Our staff works hard to serve our communities every day.

Tasks include contacting local news sources to gather news; writing local news stories; editing text and audio; recording interviews and actualities; attending and reporting on meetings; broadcasting live from various special events; gathering, writing, editing, and voicing all content for several newscast a day; posting local stories to our websites; and producing a weekly interview program of about 10 minutes in length. Formal education in broadcasting, broadcast news experience and familiarity with Montgomery County, Illinois are preferred. Important skills for success in the position include: accuracy, the ability to work with people in a productive manner including news contacts and co-workers, self-starting, good grammar and news writing skills, word processing skills, interview skills, digital audio editing skills, skill with broadcast “remote” equipment, good organization, time management skills, the ability to complete news tasks by a deadline, and an authoritative on air delivery.
