(Gillespie)--On Monday, the Macoupin County States Attorney's Office have charged two Granite City brothers in the shooting death of 30 year old Willie Walton of Gillespie. (Gillespie)--Two unidentified 19 year old males from Granite City were arrested Wednesday in connection to an apparent shooting in Gillespie. According to Illinois State Police, the Macoupin County Sheriff's Office received a report of a shooting that occurred in the seven hundred block of Gillespie Street. Read more...
Storm Damage in Girard

Clean up and electric service restoration continies in Girard following Tuesday evening‘s strong storms. Macoupin County Emergency Mangagement Coordinator Jim Pithcford says as of Wednesday morning 17 buildings in Girard were damaged and 4 homes were destroyed. Contestants Sought for Macoupin County Fair Pageant

All interested Miss and Junior Miss contestants must reside in or attend school in Macoupin. Miss contestants must be at least 16 to 21 years old, but not 22 yearts old by January of 2012. Junior Miss contestants mya be 12 to 14 years old, but no older than 15 years old on the night of the pageant. Read more...
