Crash Near Girard Kills Two
Wed, 03 Feb 2010 10:50:17 CSTTwo people are dead following a head on crash north of Girard Tuesday night.
According to Illinois State Police, 62 year old Jerry Dennison of Virden was traveling north on Rt. 4 near Substation Road when for unknown reasons his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado crossed the center line and collided head on with a 1999 Ford Explorer at 9:45pm.
The driver of the Explorer, 43 year old Alita Santowski of Carlinville was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:15pm according to Macoupin County Coroner Brad Targhetta.
Jerry Dennison was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield and died of his injuries at 6:45am on Wednesday.
The crash remains under investigation.
