Roberts Ranking Member Ag Committee

The announcement had been expected - but it‘s now official. Kansas Senator Pat Roberts will serve as Ranking Member of the Senate Agriculture Committee. Roberts chaired the House Ag Committee as the 1996 Freedom to Farm bill was written. He says his selection ensures farmers and ranchers will have a powerful voice in the upcoming Farm Bill debate. Roberts says he will advocate for an income safety net in the next farm bill, address burdensome regulations that threaten to put farmers out of business, fight to protect the federal crop insurance program and continue his push to remove barriers to trade and negotiate greater access to foreign markets for U.S. ag products.
National Cattlemen‘s Beef Association Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says Roberts has a long history of defending U.S. beef producers and supporting the U.S. beef industry. In fact - he says there are few members of Congress more committed to supporting the U.S. beef industry. Woodall says U.S. cattlemen and women should rest easier knowing that Senator Roberts is serving as ranking members of the Ag Committee
