Police Impersonator On The Loose

Tue, 23 Apr 2013 08:46:35 CDT

It appears another police impersonator is on the loose . A man allegedly pulled over a 17 year old girl last Friday (4-19-13) in Godfrey

The girl told deputies that on Friday at 6:15 p.m., she was driving on Godfrey Road when she was stopped by a vehicle with a flashing blue light. The man walked out of his vehicle and warned her about her expired license plate registration.
She also said the man wore a badge around his neck on a chain. After the incident the man got back into his car and drove toward Jersey County.

Authorities describe the man as:

WHITE MALE
30 TO 40 YEARS OF AGE
6’1” TO 6’3”
AVERAGE BUILD
BROWN CREW CUT HAIR
NO FACIAL HAIR
BLUE BUTTON UP SHIRT
DARK PANTS

In the past couple of months residents of Macoupin, Sangamon, and Calhoun Counties, have reported suspicious encounters with individuals possibly impersonating a police officer.     Although there are similarities in several of the encounters it is unknown if they are connected.
Investigators with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office are actively investigating this incident.

If anyone has information relating to this incident or has had a similar encounter you are being asked to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office
