Three people were injured in an automobile accident Thursday afternoon southwest of Assumption.
Megan Sisk of Nokomis, and Shelley Graves and 18-year-old Courtney Fuerstenau, both of Taylorville, were all taken to a hospital in Springfield for treatment of their injuries.
According to Christian County Sheriff Bruce Kettelkamp, Sisk, 24, was driving an SUV south on 2300 East Road, while Graves, 46, was driving a pickup truck west on 900 North Road. The two vehicles approached an intersection of the two roadways that was not marked by any traffic control device. According to police, there is also high corn located on the north side of 900 North Road.
Neither vehicle stopped at the intersection, causing a crash. Both vehicles ended up resting in a bean field on the southwest corner of the intersection.
Kettelkamp said the pickup appeared to have rolled over four times after the collision, causing serious injuries to Graves and Fuerstenau. Both were airlifted to a hospital in Springfield. Sisk was taken to a Springfield hospital by ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation by the Christian County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Kettelkamp reminds motorists to stop at intersections of county roadways where no stop or yield signs are present and high corn is located.
