Water Service in Nokomis Restored After Break

Water service has been restored to customers of the Nokomis water system after a break in the water main caused service to be shut down for hours on Wednesday.
According to Nokomis Emergency Services Coordinator Joe Gasparich, the break occurred on the main line that leads from the water treatment plant to the storage tower. It was directly adjacent to Route 16.
The break affected water service customers in both Nokomis and Coalton. Those customers are now under a boil order until further notice. Service was restored around 3 p.m. Wednesday. In a statement, Gasparich thanked public works employees for their efforts in restoring water service.
This is the second time in less than six weeks that a break in a water main in Nokomis has occurred. On June 25, a major water line break occurred on the main line between the water treatment facility and the water tower. Customers were without water service for most of the day on that date.
