A 2008 Litchfield High School graduate is stationed with a naval command responsible for teaching future information warriors skills required to defend America around the world.
Petty Officer First Class Dustin Mixen works as an information systems technician instructor and operates out of the Information Warfare Training Command Corry Station. He is responsible for teaching the functions of communications operations, message processing, and network administration and security.
Mixen has earned the Navy Achievement Medal for restoring a network back to operational status on a shore installation. He said he has family members with military ties, including an uncle who was in the navy. He added that he is honored to carry on the family tradition. He also said that serving in the Navy is a way to support his family and is a means to pay off his student loans from attending college before enlisting.
