A Hillsboro man was arrested Friday for his role in a traffic accident that took place in December.
Gregory J. Bellaver, 48, was taken into custody Friday on charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol during an accident Dec. 23.
According to Hillsboro Police Chief Randy Leetham, authorities responded to an accident that occurred at 1:24 a.m. on Dec. 23 on Shelbyville Road near Long Avenue. A vehicle had reportedly collided with a concrete based light pole at a high rate of speed near the Montgomery County Housing.
The driver, identified as Bellaver, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Leetham said there were indicators at the scene that Bellaver may have been intoxicated during the crash.
With the assistance of the Montgomery County State's Attorney's office, Leetham said a subpoena was served and Bellaver's blood alcohol levels were requested and obtained. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail Friday.
