McKay Napa Auto Parts Farm Dinners

McKay's would like to invite everyone to the 2023 McKay NAPA Auto Parts Farm Dinners.They will have many things on display such as batteries, filters, hydraulics, tools (including Milwaukee, Carlyle, Craftsman, and more), and so much more. Reps will be on hand to demo and answer any questions that you may have! Doors open at 5pm and Dinner will be served at 6pm with a small presentation to follow!

Carlinville 4-H Art SPIN Club

4-H Art SPIN Club being Offered

Macoupin County 4-H will be offering a six week art special interest club. Suzi Humphreys will be guiding youth through a variety of projects with the focus being on sculpture. Classes will be Saturday mornings from 10-11:15am starting January 21 and running through February 25 at the Extension office in Carlinville. Participants will enhance art skills, create their own masterpieces, have fun and meet new friends!

This ART SPIN Club is open to youth ages 10 and above and the cost is $10 for 4-H members and $20 for non-members. Register by January 6 by calling the Extension office at 217-854-9604 for more details.

Hillsboro Watershed Improvement Meeting Registration Deadline February 3rd

The Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District along with the City
of Hillsboro will be sponsoring an informational meeting to discuss the resource
planning project for the watersheds of Old Hillsboro Lake and Lake Glenn Shoals. The
informational meeting will be held on Thursday, February 9th at The Abbey on Broad,
202 S. Broad Street in Hillsboro at 6:30 pm. Speakers at the meeting will include
Hillsboro Mayor Don Downs, Kris Reynolds, who farms within the Glenn Shoals
watershed, and Jeff Boeckler of Northwater Consulting in Springfield who was hired by
the city to develop the watershed plan. A cash bar will also be available following the
meeting. Attendees are asked to call the SWCD office at 217-532-3361 Extension 3 to
RSVP by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3rd.

For students who bring their official transcripts, it may be possible to get an instant admission decision and find out immediately if they can attend Blackburn in the fall.

Throughout the day, students and families will tour the beautiful 80-acre campus.  In addition to a complimentary lunch, they will see first-hand Blackburn’s unique approach to education as the only student-managed Work Program in the nation and discover how graduates build full resumes that will give them a four-year head start launching their future careers.

The Admissions and Financial Aid team will be available to answer all of your questions, including about opportunities like the Macoupin Promise – where qualified graduates of Macoupin County high schools can go to Blackburn tuition-free.

Certified Food Protection Manager Certification

The Montgomery County Health Department in Hillsboro is sponsoring an 8-hour course for Certified Food Protection Manager Certification. Classes will be held at the Montgomery County Health Department in Hillsboro on March 7th and 9th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Students must attend both days to be eligible to take the exam. The exam is included and will be administered on March 9th at 12:00 p.m.  Cost for the course is $25.00 and pre-registration and pre-payment is required. Classes are filled on a first-come first-served basis. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
