Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department's 64th Annual Christmas Basket Program

What: Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department's 64th Annual Christmas Basket Program

Members of the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department have finalized plans for
their 64th Annual Christmas Basket Program. This year, the volunteers will again be collecting canned goods, such as vegetables, soup, tuna, and baby food, and other non-perishable items from the community. The food drive will begin as
usual with collection tubs being placed in the Hillsboro schools after Thanksgiving. In addition, firefighters will be set up at Imagine Hillsboro’s Christmas festival on December 4th to accept donations. Finally, the fire whistle will be sounded at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 13th to signal the volunteers
going out into the community and collecting food donations from area homes with their front porch lights on.

Those wishing to contribute financially to the Christmas Basket Program may do so by making their checks payable to “HVFD Christmas Basket Program” and either mailing them to the Hillsboro Fire Department (101 South Broad Street in Hillsboro), by dropping them off in the night deposit slot at City Hall, or by giving them to any Hillsboro firefighter.

Applications for the Christmas Basket Program will be available at the Hillsboro Fire
Department, 101 South Broad Street, beginning on November 25th (Thanksgiving). Residents of the Hillsboro Fire Department service area, which includes Hillsboro, Schram City, and Butler, are welcome to apply. Applications must be submitted by December 10th, either by mailing them to the Hillsboro Fire Department or by dropping them off at City Hall in the night deposit slot.
Food baskets will be distributed on Saturday, December 18th.
