Litchfield Employment Services Office To Relocate

(Litchfield)--The Litchfield Employment Services Office on Airport Trail Road will be relocated following the close of business on Friday. According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security, the closure is a result of federal budget cuts.

The Illinois Department of Employment Services is nearly 100 percent federally funded. The anticipated cuts represent nearly 20 percent of its nearly 218 million dollar federal budget.

Employment Security Offices that will remain open near Litchfield include: 1300 Ninth Street in Springfield; 612 W. St. Louis Avenue in Alton; and 50 Kriege Farm Road in Glen Carbon.

Workforce Act Investment Staff

It was also announced that despite the removal of the Unemployment Insurance Office from Litchfield, the Workforce Investment Act Staff will remain in the office on Airport Trail Road. Staff members will be available from 8am until 4:30pm Monday thru Friday.

Staunton Man Killed In A Single Vehicle Accident

(Pairietown)--Authorities are investigating a single vehicle accident Thursday morning that killed a Staunton man. According to Madison County Coroner Steven Nonn, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Renken Road near Dustman Road. Reportedly the vehicle left the road and rolled down an embankment.

42 year old Thomas Gusewelle was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison County Coroner's Office. Nonn says a preliminary investigation revealed that Gusewelle died of head and neck trauma.

The accident remains under investigation by the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

Meth Bust Near Troy

(Troy)--An Arizona man was arrested following a traffic stop near Troy. According to State Police, a traffic stop led to the discovery of several pounds of meth. The value of the drugs were estimated to be over three hundred and thirty thousand dollars.

Authorities say a trooper stopped a silver SUV for improper lane usage. During a search of the vehicle, three wrapped bundles containing three and a half pounds of meth were discovered.

The 31 year old man was arrested and is being held in the St. Clair County Jail, pending federal drug trafficking charges. Other occupants in the vehicle were detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Springfield Woman Faces DUI Charges Following Accident

(Litchfield)--A Springfield woman faces D.U.I. charges following a single vehicle accident Saturday morning on Interstate 55, south of Farmersville. According to State Police, a vehicle driven by 21 year old Marina Dragoo of Springfield was southbound on the interstate.

Dragoo attempted to make a turn, and traveled off the road, striking a guardrail before coming to rest. She was cited with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

No One Injured In A Two Vehicle Accident On Route 4

(Litchfield)--No one was injured in a two vehicle accident that happened Tuesday morning on Route 4 in Macoupin County. According to information released over the weekend by State Police, vehicles driven by 62 year old John Riemann Sr. of Litchfield, and 57 year old Rosalie Dunn of Herrick were northbound on Route 4, approaching the intersection of Dodge Road.

Reportedly Dunn slowed down to make a turn onto Dodge Road. Riemann did not see Dunn slowing down, and struck her vehicle. Riemann was cited with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Girard Man Found Near Farmersville

(Farmersville)--The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent suicide that happened Tuesday evening near Farmersville. According to the Sheriff's Office, authorities were dispatched to a residence on the East Frontage Road.

Upon arrival, the body of 33 year old Curtis Scott of Girard was found in the yard of the residence. Scott was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield where he was pronounced dead by the Sangamon County Coroner's Office.

Scott had been reported missing earlier in the day by Girard Police Department. The incident remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner's Office and by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
