Regulators Monitoring Pipeline Leak Near Livingston

(Livingston)--Federal and State regulators are monitoring the cleanup of a pipeline leak that spilled close to one hundred gallons of gasoline in Madison County. According to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, some of the spill that was reported on December 2nd near Livingston found its way into a small farm pond and tributary of Silver Creek.

The agency says the eight inch pipe, owned by Buckeye Partners, LP. was less than two feet below the surface and may have been damaged by farming. Cleanup crews contained the leak, and gasoline was siphoned from the pond. Illinois EPA says test of nearby well showed no contamination.
