98-year-old Marvella  Mierkowski of Litchfield passed away Thursday, August 13.  This is the kind of woman they had in mind when they invented the word irreplaceable.  Whether she was filling trays at the Colt School cafeteria, serving as Chaplain for the American Legion Auxillary, helping at the Litchfield Seniors Citizens events or creating a dress for the special day of so many women across mid illinois.  Springfield Catholic Bishop Thomas John Paprocki thought enough of her work at Holy Family Catholic Church and her faith to honor her as a woman of distinction.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield, on 

Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.  Visitation will be at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield on Tuesday, August 18 from 4:00 to 7:00 

p.m.; the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.  Internment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Litchfield.  

73-year-old Hollie Elaine Greenwalt of Litchfield, passed away Thursday, July 30.   Memorial services for Hollie will be held on Saturday, August 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service.  

74-year-old Richard Leroy ‘Rich’ Stewart of Hillsboro passed away  Friday, July 24. Services for Rich Stewart will be held Thursday, July 30 at noon at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.     Burial will be a Wares Grove Cemetery, in rural Butler. Hough Dean Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
