A Taylorville man was killed in a car versus bicycle accident Thursday morning west of Auburn.

According to Illinois State Police, 22 year old William Cohen of Pawnee was driving a 1999 Nissan westbound on Rt. 104 when the vehicle drifted onto the westbound shoulder and struck a bicycle at 8:42am.

The driver of the bike, 71 year old Grover Everett, was taken by Auburn EMS to Memorial Medical center in Springfield.

Sangamon County Coroner Cinda Edwards reported that Everett was pronounced dead at 9:35am at the hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
