Sky View Drive-In Opening

A Route 66 business in Litchfield celebrates 66 years and the new owners will open for the season tonight. The Sky View Drive-in, one of the last remaining original drive-ins on Route 66, was purchased on March 1st by Mindy Pastrovich and her husband, Nick. Mindy says they decided to purchase the drive-in as a business venture.

Our goal is to keep it going, keep it thriving, make it something that will eventually be profitable. We'd love to continue being a big part of the community and showing our appreciation for the support we've gotten from all of the local people as well as those that come to us because we're on Route 66 by doing that by taking it and making it great. After a month of cleaning, painting and other minor changes, the drive-in is ready for another season of movie goers.

I, personally, am just excited to see it thrive, see it continue to be a memory-making place for our patrons. As a photographer, I definitely plan on putting that to good use and getting some good shots of groups and families that come to see us. I know we've got one group that they spent the night after their wedding there with their family from four or five different states. They try to come back every couple of years to relive that and to be a part of that is something pretty special to me.The drive-in will open tonight at 7:30 and start the show at sunset. Admission is $5 per person. This weekend, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and "10 Cloverfield Lane" will be showing. The drive-in will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. After school gets out, their schedule will be Thursdays through Saturdays with special showings and events on Tuesdays and Sundays. For more information, visit their website: Sky View Drive-In.
