Bank & Trust Robbery Suspect in Custody

Bank & Trust Robbery Suspect in Custody

The suspect believed to be responsible for robbing Bank and Trust in Raymond last Tuesday is now in police custody.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, James Williams, 34, turned himself in at the Alton Police Department on Saturday. A warrant was issued last week for the Class X felony of Aggravated Robbery, and bond has been set at $500,000. Williams was on parole with the Illinois Department of Corrections for Aggravated Use of a Weapon in a separate incident.

At approximately 11:59am last Tuesday, a black male wearing light-colored blue jeans, a white v-neck t-shirt, tan boots, and a black "skull" cap entered the bank demanding money with a note. The man stood between 6'1" and 6'2", weighed about 200 pounds and was carrying a black and white plaid backpack. He also had a goatee and a tattoo next to his left eye, possibly in the shape of a teardrop.

The man appeared to be unarmed during the robbery.
