One person is dead following a single vehicle accident Friday north of Modesto.

According to Illinois State Police, 27 year old Mason Dougherty of Kane was driving a 2003 Chevrolet SUV southbound of Rt. 111 when the vehicle left the roadway at 8:30am. The vehicle struck a utility pole and rolled over before coming to rest. Dougherty was ejected from the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:30pm by Macoupin County Coroner Brad Targhetta.

Rt. 111 was shut down for approximately six and a half hours to remove ppower poles and lines to restore power.

The crash remains under investigation.
