An Alton man was injured in an automobile accident Wednesday evening on Interstate 55 near Pawnee.

According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, Tracy Buchanan was driving a semi north on the interstate when his truck left the roadway to the left, causing the vehicle to roll over onto the driver's side and come to rest in the center of the median.

Buchanan, 63, was taken to Memorial Hospital in Springfield with non-life threatening injuries. He was cited with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash. The accident occurred at 6:39 p.m. Wednesday near exit 82.
