Authorities are searching for a Hillsboro man who went missing Sunday near Pawnee.

Michael Schmidt, 59, was last seen Sunday by a friend while out searching for arrowheads. Schmidt is a 5'8 white male, and weighs approximately 135 pounds. He is also reportedly in poor health, is unable to speak and has a breathing tube in his neck. According to a statement from the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office Tuesday, the search is now begin referred to as a recovery mission.

Flooding in the area caused by weather has made the search more difficult. Along with the sheriff's office, the Sangamon County Rescue Squad and Illinois State Police Air Operations have assisted in the search.
