Litchfield Approves Purchase of RAS Pump

Last Thursday, the Litchfield City Council approved the purchase of a new submersible pump for the Return Activated Sludge building at the Wastewater Treatment Facility.

The previous pump had failed as a result of a storm that occurred in Litchfield on July 19. At the August 2nd meeting, the council approved the repair of the existing pump. However, after being disassembled, it was found that certain internal components of the pump were beyond repair.

The cost for the new ShinMaywa explosion-proof submersible pump will not exceed $6,139.60, and will be installed by Equipment Pro, Inc. Alderman Dwayne Gerl told the council that Equipment Pro has been a good company for the city. The difference between the cost to repair the existing pump and replacing it was $3,766.10.

The next Litchfield City Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 20, at 6:30 p.m.
