Hillsboro Police Hires Former Auxiliary Police Officer

A new officer with the Hillsboro Police Department was hired during a special city council meeting on Tuesday, July 30.

Tim Siverly fills a vacancy that was left by Kelly Brewer, who resigned last week. Prior to being hired as a member of the department, Siverly served with Hillsboro's Auxiliary Police. Councilman Don Downs pointed out the opportunity for advancement when joining the organization.

"They are always looking for volunteers," Downs said. "Chief (Randy) Leetham was an auxiliary policeman before his hire as well. This proves to be a good stepping stone for those who want to pursue a career in law enforcement."

Applications for anyone interested in joining the Auxiliary Police are available at Hillsboro City Hall.

The next regular city council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 7 p.m.
