Virden Man Sentenced to Five Years

A Virden man was sentenced to five years in prison on Thursday, June 27, for offenses stemming from an incident in Taylor Springs in mid-June.

Aaron Damm, 48, was charged with the Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony, and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer, a Class 4 Felony. A plea agreement was presented by State's Attorney Bryant Hitchings and the defendant's attorney Erin Mattson. It was approved by the Honorable Judge Jim Roberts.

Damm was arrested by the Taylor Springs Police after his motorcycle crashed following a chase through the village on June 16. He had previously been arrested in February by the Litchfield Police for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. He also previously served 180 days in the Montgomery County Jail after being convicted of a single charge of Battery resulting from a December arrest in Litchfield.

Damm was sentenced to two years for the methamphetamine offense and three years for the aggravated fleeing charge. The time will run consecutively.
