A 35-year-old Carlinville man was injured after he was hit by a semi on Interstate 55 in Madison County on Friday, June 28.

According to the State Police, Danny Kline was standing in front of his vehicle, which was parked on the right shoulder in the southbound lanes of the interstate near milepost 27. At 9:13 a.m., a semi approached, and investigators say Kline walked into the roadway for an unknown reason.

The semi swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid hitting Kline, but the man hit the passenger's side door of the truck.

He was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries. 57-year-old Bradley Emerson of St. Louis was driving the semi at the time of the accident. The investigation is ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
