Both victims of Sunday’s fire in Rural Pawnee in Christian County have been identified.  The Sangamon County Coroner’s office identifies the resident who died in the 400 block of East 1525 North Road as 70-year-old Gary Conner.  Sangamon County handled the investigation because he passed away at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  The Christian County Coroner’s office identified the female victim as 59-year-old Patricia Smith of Pawnee.  Preliminary autopsy results indicate both victims died of smoke inhalation.
