Grow Gillespie is excited to announce that, along with Deputy Governor Andy Manar and other community, City, and State officials, we'll host a ribbon-cutting for the newly completed Gillespie Streetscape on Friday, June 24th, at 10 a.m.   

 

We're also excited to formally kick off Gillespie's Fourth Friday Series!  We'll start the series on July 24th at 5 p.m. (the same day as the ribbon cutting).  Please see the attached event overview for more details, and reach out to growgillespie@gmail.org with questions, etc. We've already had over a dozen businesses sign on, and we're excited to continue our partnership with our community partners. 

Imagine Hillsboro is getting set to host its free Back to School store at the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church located at 1400 Seymour Ave.  The store will operate  Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  
This event is free to Hillsboro students grades kindergarten through twelve. Students must reside in the district.

There will be pork chops, pork burgers, hot dogs, and water for sale. Food will be sold from about 9:30am to 1pm. Come out to support a local group and enjoy some good food!

“Back 2 Mac”, an effort to provide school supplies for at need students in North Mac Schools, will be held on Saturday, August 8th from 9-11 AM at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Virden. It will be a drive-through pick-up event. 
 
North Mac parents who are needing help with the purchase of supplies are encouraged to sign-up their students now by clicking a link on the North Mac or Girard Chamber of Commerce websites.  Or you can also pick up a registration form from the “Back 2 Mac” mailbox located in front of Steve O'Dell's Country Companies Insurance office on the north side of the Virden Square. Once completed, you can drop the form in the mailbox. Deadline to sign up is Friday, July 31st.
